Letter to the editor: Questioning Westmoreland County Republicans
After 48 years as a Republican, I’m really questioning who they are. I know who I am and what I believe.
The local Republican Party finally “grew a set” and took me on for exposing them. Should I have had to battle Westmoreland County Republican Committee Chair Bill Bretz all the way to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for my right to campaign for county commissioner? Should I and my 43 Republican poll workers have had to battle the 505 committee members who worked the polls and implied that their slate card were the only Republicans on the ballot?
Should Republican committee members have been kicked off the committee and threatened not to help us in a free nation? I won’t get into how Bretz violated the bylaws. I didn’t barely lose to incumbent Doug Chew, I lost to the criminal element of the Republican committee.
Who really fights for us in Westmoreland? Leslie “Trump House” Rossi does. I do. Rep. Eric Nelson staunchly defended mail-in ballots and voted for fetal tissue research. George Dunbar staunchly defended mail-in ballots and voted for a Democratic speaker of the House in January when we had the majority.
So why such a strong stand by my party against the guy who paid for a “Westmoreland Never Socialist” billboard in 2020 to help President Trump? So why such a strong stand against a true “full armor of God” strong conservative? Why do the committee members accept this? I understand now why 12% of the voters are independent.
