Letter to the editor: Problems with high-tech vehicles, solar
Modern technology is amazing, and in the future will become the norm. However, that time is not here yet.
I do not believe there is a safe self-driving vehicle yet. I will not buy an electric car. My house does not have solar panels on the roof.
My problem with self-driving cars, besides the safety issues, is, who is responsible when one is in an accident? If manufacturers are held responsible, they will cease to make them.
Electric cars have their own problems. They are more expensive. There are not enough charging stations, and there are problems with the batteries. Also remember, President Biden and his liberal friends may be voted out of office, and if so, the tighter regulations may be eased.
If solar energy was half as good as the industry touts, it would be impossible to buy solar panels. Mainly the government and private businesses put solar panels on their roofs. It is more expensive and in many places, a backup heating system is needed.
Wind turbine energy has its problems. Birds fly into the blades and die. The wind does not always blow at a constant speed. In the winter in cold climates, they can freeze.
These energy sources are things of the future, but we need energy now, too. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
