Letter to the editor: Praying for Father Moineau

Tribune-Review

I became a Catholic and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church when Father John Moineau baptized me at the Easter vigil in 2011. Father John was not just our pastor; he was a leader and teacher in our community. He gave his all every day, not just on Sundays.

I am hurting, angry, feeling adrift and so much more. It is not the same going to the church that I joined and loved. Many priests preach at you; Father John preached to you and taught you at the same time. He was able to relay real life experiences with each homily he delivered. He did not just read words from a piece of paper; he delivered a sermon from the heart. No one, and I mean no one, can fill his shoes.

I have lost all respect for the Diocese of Greensburg, specifically Bishop Larry Kulick’s handling of this issue. How do you even look in the mirror? You may have taken Father John from our church, but you will never remove him from our hearts. I’ll return when Father John does.

We will forever be your faithful parishioners, Father John; hear us praying for your physical and mental health.
