Letter to the editor: Police, not terrorists, should have weapons

When Democrats gained power Nov. 3, one of the demands of President Biden was to limit the 1033 program, which allows the military to transfer surplus military equipment to U.S. police departments to help keep them and innocent civilians safe during dangerous situations.

Had Biden not ordered a hasty Vietnam-style retreat from Afghanistan, we could have shipped home some of the billions of dollars worth of military equipment that terrorists around the Middle East will now be able to use against their own people.

If the Taliban were allowed to vote in American elections, we know what party they would vote for.
