Letter to the editor: Past time to dump Trump

Tribune-Review

I applaud letter-writer Richard Dulemba for his rebuttal, “Clarifying Jan. 6 hypocrisy” (Sept. 13, TribLIVE) to Dr. Joel Last’s letter “Jan. 6 hypocrisy” (Sept. 1, TribLIVE). It goes to show how in denial many are and the lengths they will go to defend President Trump.

Then you have Paul Carrick (“America and Pa. need Donald Trump,” Sept. 12, TribLIVE) telling all Democrats and Republicans who hate Trump why Pennsylvania and America need Trump and calling him a patriot. Trump is far from a patriot.

I have no problem admitting I hate Trump. I didn’t like him before he was president and would never have voted for him, Democrat or Republican. But after his presidency and his Jan. 6 insurrection, I hate him for what he has done to this country and its humanity, which continues today. I’ve seen good and bad policies from all presidents in my lifetime, but I’ve never hated a president until Trump.

What’s really sad is that 9/11 just passed, a time when America stood together strong. Flash-forward to Jan. 6, 2021, and today. We were again attacked — this time from within, and now are being destroyed from within by our own former president and those who refuse to accept simple truth. That is a shame for our once-proud nation.

Say what you want about President Biden and the Democrats. But the Republican Party and America will have no credibility as long as they embrace Trump. It’s time for all Americans, regardless of political affiliation, to dump Trump.
