Letter to the editor: Pa. voting law in effect before coronavirus
The writer of the letter “Timid state legislators” (Nov. 30, TribLIVE) stated, “I believe Gov. Tom Wolf and his secretary of State used the coronavirus as an excuse to liberalize our voting to give Joe Biden a distinct advantage in this election.”
The current election law, Act 77, permitted mail-in voting and was signed into law Oct. 31, 2019. It was passed by a bipartisan vote in a Republican-dominated Legislature.
This law was passed almost before anyone had heard of coronavirus and definitely before Biden became the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party.
