Letter to the editor: Pa. needs to learn to balance budget without more taxes

Tribune-Review

Regarding the article “Wolf tours Greensburg blight, touts proposed gas severance tax” (June 7, TribLIVE): I am so tired of our governor only having one plan: raise taxes on us so he can spend more. He can tell me all day long how he is going to tax the gas drillers, producers and retailers, but I guarantee you one thing: They will not be paying one dime out of their profits — it will come out of our wallets, on our energy bills and as a part of the increased price that we pay for the few items that are still made in this country.

I find it equally interesting that until liquor could be sold and taxed by our state, it was bad. Gambling was bad until it could be turned into a tax cow. Now they want marijuana. What will be next?

As household budget balancer, I have exactly two ways to balance my budget: earn more or spend less. Why is it that our government budget balancers only know how to tax more?
