Letter to the editor: Pa. is failing its vulnerable seniors
The following is a copy of a letter I sent to Gov. Tom Wolf:
I am writing to voice my disappointment if not anger at how Pennsylvania is handling the covid-19 vaccine rollout. I no longer live in Pennsylvania but was born and grew up in Greensburg. I left years ago due to the lack of jobs. My parents still live there and are the reason for my note.
They are 84 years old and are not yet vaccinated. My sister (who lives in Kentucky) and I have spent many hours searching websites for information and putting their names on lists for the vaccine. Most do not even send a confirmation that you have been added. They have no idea if they are getting close to the front of any list.
Expecting seniors to search out and navigate websites is unconscionable. I see much more organization in Tennessee and Kentucky. We are vaccinating 65-plus people. Please explain how two 84-year-olds — part of the most vulnerable group — are not yet vaccinated? If they would move, I would bring them here tomorrow.
Please take better care of your constituents.
