Letter to the editor: Outcomes of impeachment
After watching a good bit of the sham impeachment procedure, I’m so glad to see it wind down. To me, it has been a three-year Democratic campaign commercial against President Trump financed by the American taxpayer.
Trump’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, said at the Senate trial that the president’s lawyers were not allowed by the House Democrats to cross-examine witnesses or offer contrary evidence.
For this reason, and others, this impeachment should be viewed as illegitimate. It is funny to hear the same people who didn’t consider impeachment by the House managers as being a trial requiring witnesses and due process, as all of a sudden requiring witnesses and new evidence in the Senate.
I am hopeful that the House Democrats will now finally focus on helping our president solve some of our country’s problems, but I won’t hold my breath.
It follows that this farce, an unnecessary expenditure in time and money, could have been easily avoided if our mainstream media was halfway honest. They could have pointed out many of the issues emphasized by the president’s team and the Senate Republicans, but they were more interested in promoting Democrats such as Adam Schiff, who has been shown to substantially lie on numerous occasions, even by The Washington Post, who gave him four Pinocchios.
Acquittal was the best outcome of this impeachment. Additionally, many people have been educated on the genius and relevance of our Constitution, and also how far the media will go to support one of their own and demonize one they oppose.
