Letter to the editor: One-side sources leave people ignorant
I enjoy reading the Letters section, but I am amazed at the level of misinformation and ignorance regarding the economy, the environment and politics that exists in our community.
For example, one writer claims he is unaware of any plans the Republicans have to combat out-of-control inflation and crime the country has been subjected to under President Biden. He apparently does not know that the Republicans campaigned on working to bring back U.S. energy independence to help return fuel prices to the level they were pre-Biden. The guy probably doesn’t know that energy cost is the main driver of inflation.
Nor does the guy seem to know that Republicans planned to resecure the border. Under the Biden administration, an average of 8,000 to 9,000 illegal immigrants enter the U.S. every day with little to no restriction, including drugs, criminals, terrorists and indigents, all needing basic care, which U.S. taxpayers must provide. Sources show that care for illegals costs each taxpayer $2,500 per year.
The writer also does not seem to know Republicans want to combat crime by forcing liberal DAs to enforce the law, not coddle criminals with no-cash bail and no jail time.
I think the problem is that too many folks are getting their information from left-wing sources like CNN and the AP. I don’t think there are any fact-checkers working since President Trump left.
People need to include sources like the Wall Street Journal, Washington Examiner and, yes, Fox News; otherwise, they will remain ignorant.
