Letter to the editor: Olympian's action shameful

Tribune-Review

Recently I watched Olympic hopeful Gwen Berry turn her back to the American flag while the national anthem was being played. The other women stood at attention with their hands over their hearts with respect for the country they represent.

Here’s my take on this action: If you want to jump on the bandwagon with Colin Kaepernick, LeBron James and the like and you despise America so much, maybe you should pack your stuff and go to China or North Korea and do your America bashing from there.

In case you whiners haven’t noticed, it was America that gave you the opportunity to pursue these sports in the first place. These American back-stabbers are making millions of dollars all the while saying how bad they’re treated.

America is being picked apart, and it’s starting with the president on down. President Biden is more worried about his ice cream than solving the border crisis.

We need American flags hanging from every home and business — if not for your country, be it for all the men and women who died and were wounded and still suffer so these people can stand on an Olympic platform and show their disrespect. Those actions are shameful, and Berry should be pulled from the Olympics. If you don’t like the country you’re supposed to be representing, stay home.

I for one am not watching the Olympics.
