Letter to the editor: Officials trying to profit from coronavirus
When news about the coronavirus started coming out, some elected officials made money or wanted something for their own personal gain.
Sens. Richard Burr and Kelly Loeffler and others sold their stock and made money after receiving information about the coronavirus. We didn’t get to sell our stock with that information; why should they?
Sen. Elizabeth Warren and others want to forgive those with student loans. The students decided to take out loans, not the taxpayers. Nor did we tell them to go into debt. What does this have to do with the coronavirus? Is this for her and others to get their name out there to buy votes for the next election ?
Sen. Rand Paul wanted to add things he wantedto the stimulus bill that have nothing to do with the coronavirus. Does he just want to show he’s still out there?
I could add more names for those who made money for family personal gain, too, but I don’t have the room to list all of them here. When will this all stop? Doesn’t the safety of the American people mean anything to these people? They were elected to serve us, not for their personal gain.
They should resign from office and forfeit any profit they made from these transactions.
God help us.
