Letter to the editor: Norwin school board's spending

Tribune-Review

Again, the Norwin School Board is planning on spending money it does not have. Every year, school directors raise taxes to the maximum allowed without voter approval. Now they want to borrow money to pay for improvements, necessitating tax increases in the future.

Let’s say you are a homeowner and you want to do some improvements. You want to put new siding on your house that could last a few more years. Or you want to redo the pool in your backyard. You look at your savings and income and decide that you just do not have the money to pay for those improvements. In fact, you are living paycheck to paycheck. So you decide to get a loan. This is not fiscally responsible. Businesses and homeowners attempt to cut their costs to live within their means.

This school board just spends and plans on increasing taxpayer costs. The board’s primary mission is to make sure our children have the very best education to prepare them for life. It’s not to have the best school or the best athletic facilities. Our recourse is as it always is: the ballot box. Vote wisely.
