The state Senate has a major decision to make: allow the plastics and fossil fuel industries to get a massive tax break or improve the environment for years to come. Pennsylvania needs clean air and water, something with which we have struggled for too long.
At a time when environmental programs go unfunded, the last thing we should be doing is giving some of the world’s richest, dirtiest companies an $800 million tax break. Less single-use plastics is what we should be aiming for, not more. We should be writing bills to improve our environment all the time. We have suffered enough.
With the Shell cracker plant being built in Beaver County, and ExxonMobil scouting the area, we cannot allow companies to pollute our area and leave when they see fit.
Our state senators should vote no on House Bill 1100.
