Letter to the editor: Mistick shows no fairness
I usually avoid reading Joseph Mistick’s commentaries because of his disdain for conservatives. However, when I noticed his commentary “El Paso, Dayton shootings & reckless words” (Aug. 10, TribLIVE), I thought maybe, just maybe, Mistick would express some honesty/fairness. Silly me.
Mistick’s suggestion that President Trump inspired someone to kill and injure people is itself a dog whistle to some weak-minded progressive socialist who dislikes conservatives. If Mistick is so concerned about “dark forces … inspiring zealous followers …” then he should be genuine and call out those on the left who threaten the president and his supporters.
The words and actions of Reps. Maxine Waters, Joaquin Castro and Jerry Nadler, Robert DeNiro, Kathy Griffin, Madonna, Beto O’Rourke and the so-called Squad, antifa and Black Lives Matter, just to name a few, have suggested decapitation, bombing the White House, harassment, boycotts and violence. All these against a duly elected president and his supporters.
I may have missed it, but did you write any commentary on the Warren/Sanders supporter who went on a killing rampage in Dayton? And I cannot see Mistick’s insinuation that the El Paso shooter was somehow a Trump supporter. I read the manifesto and he was certainly inspired by left-wing philosophy.
All we hear is RACIST! NAZI! RACIST! NAZI! from the left. I say STOP! STOP! STOP! The left is creating, then pushing, a dangerous narrative of anti-American socialism that condemns everyone who does not think like them. And this narrative can lead to unrest and maybe even bloodshed.
And that blood, Mr. Mistick, will be on your hands and those who support your hypocrisies.
