Letter to the editor: Missing Trump
Your editorial “An assault on the American system” (Jan. 6, TribLIVE) should have included the pent-up anger that Americans feel for the politicians in Washington.
I remember Nancy Pelosi tearing up the State of the Union speech last February. She was not censured by her colleagues; indeed, she was applauded. Her act was “an assault on the democratic process.” Maxine Waters urged people to aggressively confront any Trump supporters. The media is also to blame for sparking the flames of insurrection.
I understand that feeling of being backed up against the wall. I had this experience in the Baltimore of Mayor Thomas D’Alessandro (Pelosi’s father). Gay men were often targets of the Baltimore police. Lord knows what was said at the D’Alessandro dinner table. We booed him at the Preakness Parade, and his reply was the famous Italian middle finger.
You can take the girl out of Baltimore, but not Baltimore out of the girl.
No one would listen to us or value our lives until Donald Trump came along. I will miss him.
