Letter to the editor: Love all, harm none
Why is there something rather than nothing? Could numerous universes exist like grains of sand in an endless desert, or exist within every single atom? Our universe is 15.1 billion years old, and the earth is 4.65 billion years old. On a 24-hour time scale, we have been here less than one second.
We are part of creation surrounded by extremely organized miracles, including our brains that have 85 billion neurons, each with 1,000 connections.
St. Francis honored all creatures, and the sun, moon, light, heavens, air, water, fire, earth, varied fruits, colored flowers and herbs as brother and sister. We should be stewards of creation.
Global damage might lead to permanent extinction of all life, like the dinosaurs. Global action is needed now.
We have been making some progress. The recognition of the joyful Juneteenth observance is long overdue.
Every creature seeks to survive and sustain itself through God’s bounty. Recent research has also discovered that trees and plants communicate and could save us from extinction. (See planta sapiens.)
We are not the center of the world. Narcissistic egocentrism is toxic. Love all, harm none. Namaste.
