Letter to the editor: Letting Trump do whatever he wants
With all the historical “facts” being tossed out, I wonder as to their valid sources. Yes, letter-writer Dr. Joel Last (“History lesson on Republicans vs. Democrats,” Sept. 17, TribLIVE) was correct in stating that the Republicans tried to get citizenship for the freed slaves — to their credit; and the Democrats, to their shame, made sure that was not to be. That does not appear to be the case today. It is good to see that most letters have improved in literacy if not in accuracy.
I will probably be unable to change any minds, but I would like to point out that those one- or two-issue voters who are pleased with President Trump seem to have accepted the deal, “You help me get what I want, and then you can do anything you want, Mr. President.” Wow, that kind of deal leaves you drinking an awful lot of Kool-Aid!
