Letter to the editor: Let's talk about CRT, not spread misinformation

Tribune-Review

In his letter “Keeping kids first in Norwin” (Oct. 18, TribLIVE), Norwin School Board member Pat Lynn concisely articulated the need to put children’s education above other divisive matters such as masking and taxation. I am in complete agreement.

I wish also to point out he missed the third aspect the Republican school director candidates oppose — CRT — although undefined on their signage. The first time I saw the political signs posted by the four candidates stating Anti-Mask, Anti-Tax and Anti-CRT, I was taken aback. The Pennsylvania Board of Education does not include critical race theory (CRT) in its curriculum, and the candidates seem to be misleading the public about this fact.

While I do not claim to fully understand CRT, I think this is the time to begin to educate myself. One thing that is clear — dialogue between diverse people of differing backgrounds and listening to other points of view needs to continue. Every one of us has biases, conscious or unconscious. It’s how we act upon those biases that matters.

Please, let’s continue the dialogue and not spread misinformation about a topic that many of us do not fully understand.
