Letter to the editor: Let's look into Biden's 'cold'

Tribune-Review

In the many critiques that have been made public of the recent presidential debate, so much has been made of the cold that so severely afflicted President Biden that witnesses, including a number of Democrats, have expressed doubts about his ability to maintain the present campaign to a successful, winning outcome. Indeed, I, myself, watched in befuddlement, as he seemed to struggle mightily to maintain any sort of engagement worthy of the office being sought for a second time. Later, after learning of this cold, I thought to myself, “Sure, that must have been it!”

But, the true story here is not the cold itself, but rather the miraculous recovery in an extremely short time. Think about it — here we have a man who exhibited a repeated catatonic stare, yet never had a sneeze, a sniffle or a snot bubble. I think the frozen face technique must be some sort of “mind over matter” exercise to control normal symptoms.

But wait, just an hour or so later, he was able to work the room in a nearby waffle shop, glad-handing and guffawing a dozen or so patrons without a contagious germ aloft anywhere. He later claimed to have stayed up until 2 a.m., while most in the grip of such an affliction, including me, would be huddled and shivering under our blankies with our Vicks.

I am telling you, whatever that cold was, I keep wondering if Fauci and the Wuhan boys may have already cooked up the next big thing.
