Letter to the editor: Let's get resourceful to feed our babies

Tribune-Review

Many of us have heard the phrase, “What in the world is this world coming to?” As I watch the media report about the infant formula shortage, I think this phrase is worth repeating. This has set mothers in a frenzy running to and fro wondering what to do.

I was brought up in an era when, if you did not have resources, you became resourceful. There are millions of babies who grew to a ripe old age without manufactured formulas.

Why are we reaching out to foreign countries and paying them thousands of dollars to have baby formula shipped to our country? Are we so sure of what is being put into that formula that we are willing to feed it to our innocent babies? What in the world is this world coming to?

In this land of so-called plenty, we need to take that money and open up some of the closed factories in our country and manufacture our own formula.

Come, let us reason together, people. Is this about formula or about someone trying to fatten his pockets?

Think, mothers. What if embargo raised its ugly head again and our shores are closed, and we are back to square one?

Step away from media hype and think for yourself. There is nothing wrong with baby formula. The wrong is in letting it become your only option.

Wake up, America. The future of our babies is at stake!
