Letter to the editor: Latin Mass cannot be restricted
Regarding the article “Pope reverses Benedict, reimposes restrictions on Latin Mass” (July 16, TribLIVE): The Latin Mass cannot be restricted or abrogated by the pedantic dictates of any man, be he pope, bishop, priest. No human possesses the power or right to destroy that which has been divinely inspired and formulated. All Catholics, especially Vatican and diocesan dilettanti, should study and understand Pius V’s papal bull, Quo Primum. An examination of Session 22 of the Council of Trent is also in order.
The modernists demand the abrogation of the Latin Mass. If accomplished, the Latin Rite, but not the true Catholic Church, will be destroyed. Their new order Mass, a modernistic contrivance, would have been abrogated by Quo Primum. Modernists dread the possibility that the Traditionalists will overthrow VII’s ambiguities and/or accomplish the total anathema of that council.
The article aptly quotes the Rorate Caeli blog, “Francis HATES US. Francis HATES Tradition. Francis HATES all that is good and beautiful.” It is time for the Church Militant to speak up without fear. A quotation attributed to Plato seems appropriate: “The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”
