It appears that law enforcement has become more dangerous.

I have witnessed Sheriff James Albert write a letter to the editor in order to release a thinly veiled political rant and weaponize his public office (“Keeping Westmoreland County safe,” Dec. 10, TribLive). His office has seen an increase in women exercising their constitutional rights, and I bet it often advises that, didn’t you know your husband is supposed to handle the gun, sweetheart? Due to the increase in conservative law enforcement, some of whom are rapists and murderers, there is fear among citizens.

As an attorney, I can see that you have directed your staff to … do their jobs. Groundbreaking work.

Westmoreland County residents are unfortunate to have a criminal “justice” system that believes this kind of messaging is appropriate. His letter was not based in fact, but in fear and pandering. Sheriff, you are part of the system you’re lambasting, and pretty much every DA around (with the exception of Allegheny County) ran on a Republican ticket. What liberal DAs?

Voters need to do their best to vote out Albert in 2027 and make Westmoreland County a great place to live.

Ladies, go get a permit.
