Letter to the editor: Kiski Valley opportunities

Tribune-Review

When I first came to Vandergrift some six years ago, I stated there was an attitude of pessimism. This attitude of despair and pessimism prompted an idea, and I founded the Vandergrift Business Association. This nonprofit was a success for businesses and citizens alike. New businesses formed, and existing businesses prospered.

Soon after, I formed two additional nonprofits, the Kiski Valley Community Center and the Kiski Valley Chamber of Commerce, that can serve the community in various ways. Community centers serve as go-to places for residents to socialize, for young people and seniors to have fun with safe activities. A chamber of commerce will bring business and possibly industry to the Kiski Valley.

These two nonprofits could bring jobs, opportunity and dollars to the Kiski Valley. When people consider moving to a new area, they want civic amenities and a safe environment for their children and seniors.

However, these nonprofits cannot move forward without the help and volunteerism of our residents and businesses. If you would like to serve your community and contribute to its growth, please contact me.
