I’m all for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. This project was long overdue to help America solve an ongoing problem. Oil, not necessarily. If we engineer this properly, we can possibly bring water to the Midwest, West and Southwest.
People don’t need gasoline to survive. Fresh water is a different story. Americans have watched both the drought conditions and the intense wildfires ravage these areas for years. The results are staggering. The levels in reservoirs and dam areas are at record lows across these regions. We are finding the bodies of people who met an untimely death in what was the depths of Lake Meade.
Let’s face it, these areas need water desperately. Can America engineer a solution? Can we fill reservoirs and dam areas to reverse this situation from the Great Lakes or other sources?
There is one problem in solving this situation — who can make money sending water through a pipeline? Is this what is ultimately hindering a solution?
