Letter to the editor: Jan. 6 hypocrisy

Tribune-Review

Psalm 94 reminds me of the hypocrisy of the Democrat-run Jan. 6 committee and the propaganda spewed by the media. To paraphrase: “They speak freely, they utter malicious falsehoods, they glorify themselves all doers of iniquities. Your nation they crush and affect your heritage.” A few examples:

1. In his speech on Jan. 6, 2021, President Trump told supporters to “go to Pennsylvania Avenue and go to the Capitol” (not into the Capitol), as is the constitutional right of all citizens. At no time did he call for violence or insurrection (he did complain about “voter irregularities” but no more so than Hillary Clinton has done).

2. An unarmed military veteran, Ashli Babbitt, was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer (the other four deaths were determined by the D.C. coroner to be from natural causes).

3. Regarding the hearsay testimony about Trump’s behavior in the limo, several Secret Service agents said it did not happen as described.

4. I clearly hear Ray Epps on video encouraging protesters to storm the Capitol (Epps, who denies this, was set free while many others are still in jail).

5. According to Capitol Police records from Jan. 2, 2021, Trump’s DOD official, Carol Corbin, texted Capitol Police Chief Sean Gallaher an offer for National Guard Assistance. That offer was not accepted.

6. No one jailed has been charged with possession of a lethal weapon

7. A video shows Capitol Police officers standing by passively as protesters entered the Capitol.

“Understand you boors among the people and you fools, when will you gain wisdom”.
