Letter to the editor: Issues with electric vehicles

I realize electric vehicles are getting very popular, but I have some issues with them.

First, they have limited range, and would add an enormous amount of time for a trip, let’s say from Pittsburgh to Atlanta.

The second issue is the availability of charging stations as well as the amount of cars that can be charged simultaneously. Gas is an in-and-out experience.

The third issue is that someone has to pay for this electric being used by cars.

Fourth, the electric required has to be generated by either gas or nuclear power plants, which makes the electric less green.

Finally, can the existing power grid (in trouble already) handle the added load of home and away charging stations?

I wonder why nobody has explored the use of hydrogen, which is one of the most abundant elements on Earth.
