Letter to the editor: Immigration debacle

Tribune-Review

With current numbers of undocumented immigrants already surpassing last year’s total, calling President Biden’s immigration policy a debacle is certainly a fitting term. On his first day in office, Biden stopped the border wall construction and discarded the Migrant Protection Protocols agreed to by Mexico’s president that kept would-be migrants in Mexico.

The “Welcome” sign is up, and immigrants are flocking in by the hundreds to thousands per day, so many that the officers on the border cannot document, test and evaluate them for health, education and skills. It is estimated that as many as one in 10 have covid-19 or other communicable diseases, many of them released into America’s cities untreated during the pandemic. Many are gang members; others are destined for lives as criminals and prostitutes for the cartels in exchange for their passage.

Video of the Donna, Texas facility is being broadcast on national television after 19 U.S. senators toured it. At their press conference afterward, details were released documenting the squalor in which thousands of people were crammed into a space designed to hold 250. These are the same holding facilities built by President Obama and Biden, but loudly condemned two years ago as “kids in cages” to damage President Trump’s reputation.

Why is the current administration and its majority in Congress so anxious to open America’s borders and welcome vast numbers of immigrants? Is it to expand their voting base in order to advance their socialist agenda? Can anyone be that diabolical?
