I am afraid for our country. In many states, we are electing people who tell us exactly who they are. From the words they speak, we know they think that they can decide who will win an election, eliminating my vote and yours. Some join organizations like QAnon and Proud Boys that spout hatred for Jews. They incite violence They continue to talk about voter fraud when there was none.
One of these people who will be asking for your vote in the Nov. 8 general election is Sen. Doug Mastriano.
He and other politicians sound very reasonable when they meet groups and ask for your vote. They may talk about being a veteran and protecting our country. They talk about how they will deal with inflation and crime even though they don’t give concrete answers. They appeal to our wish to help the underdog. They fight against the institutions that they think are against them.
These institutions that they want to destroy are the basis of our democracy. We must try to keep these politicians from doing damage to our state and country by not giving them the power of our vote.
If we value the freedoms in our constitution, we will not give our vote to Mastriano. His opponent, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, has fought hard for the commonwealth against drug companies and crime. He deserves our vote.
