Letter to the editor: How to help our struggling country
In my 82 years, I have never seen my country, the world’s strongest democracy, struggling so mightily — economically, politically, militarily, morally, securitywise, healthwise and media-wise.
This shocking deterioration began with the 2020 election. And there is plenty of blame to go around — politicians whose party comes ahead of country, left-wing, socialist policies, inflation, big government spending, drugs, social and mainstream media, the pandemic and the collapse of the family structure and parental rights in education.
And I believe the trigger for all this was the hate-President Trump venom created when the Washington, D.C., political swamp was shocked to lose their power in 2016, when prohibitive favorite and lifetime politician Hillary Clinton surprisingly lost the presidency to businessman Donald Trump. Many bureaucrats cried, and the dump-Trump obsession began, followed by two unsuccessful impeachments, and a false dossier accusing the president of Russian collusion. All supported by a biased, left-wing media, a politicized Department of Justice and an unscrupulous opposition political party.
What can we do? How about establish term limits, vote out present politicians, enforce the balance of power among the president, Congress and the Supreme Court, enforce our Constitution as written, including freedom of speech, enforce laws evenly, support all law enforcement and military, reduce federal debt and big government waste, balance the budget, reduce regulations and taxes on the middle class to stimulate the economy and create jobs, increase drug treatment programs and double fact-check all media before we believe them.
