Letter to the editor: Help citizens, not immigrants

The Biden administration is spending billions of our hard-earned money to take care of illegal immigrants, providing health care and subsidized housing and feeding. I welcome legal immigration.

A friend of mine, an American citizen who worked hard all his life, recently had a health crisis and is currently in a nursing home on a ventilator. He owns a home with his sister, who is on low-income Social Security and pays the property taxes. She can barely afford the house and food. The nursing home wants to take the house, the cash value of his life insurance and his Social Security, pension and 401(k).

Where is the Democratic Party and Joe Biden? They need to help citizens in similar situations. No nursing home or agency should be able to force citizens to give up their homes.

The government gives billions to care for illegal immigrants while not taking care of our own legal American citizens. Where is the compassion for our citizens, President Biden? Why don’t you take a few billion from the illegal immigrants and set up a fund just for this problem?
