Letter to the editor: Harris will stand up to Trump, world leaders
The article “Path to the presidency: Keys to victory for Harris and Trump” (Aug. 25, TribLive) stated, “To sway voters, Harris will need to detail her policy positions, nail the debate with Trump scheduled for next month and continue her momentum.” But there has been far too much said by pundits about detailing policy positions by Vice President Kamala Harris, while Donald Trump seldom details his positions other than more tax breaks for the ultrawealthy, and often changes what he does say.
The real problem for Trump is that, in my opinion, he is a bully. Sadly, I learned in school that many people like to follow bullies, but it’s also true that, when we strongly stand up to bullies, they are shown to be weak and cowardly. During the Democratic National Convention, Harris and others stood up to Trump, and he responded with anger and confusion. And now it looks like maybe he’s trying to get out of the scheduled debate with Harris, after claiming she would not be able to stand up to foreign leaders. But he can’t stand up to Harris because he’s a weak and now boring bully.
Harris has a long record of standing up for the people to really tough characters. She’ll be fine and won’t bow down to Putin like Trump did.
