Letter to the editor: Girardi best candidate for district judge

Tribune-Review

I was fortunate to clerk for a good magisterial district judge for 21 years prior to retiring in 2022. I also subbed in a court with a newly elected judge who was formerly a scientist. It was challenging because of his lack of experience and limited familiarity with the court system. The staff should be able to look to the judge for guidance, rather than a judge seeking guidance from the staff.

This is an important election because for the first time in 24 years, the residents of Cheswick, Frazer, Harmar, Springdale Borough and Springdale Township are electing a new district judge. You should take the opportunity to meet the candidates so that you can make an educated choice when voting. When you consider the best candidate to be a judge, it should never be about “he is friends with so and so” or “he graduated from the local high school.”

When you vote for the next district judge of 05-3-03, please consider the qualifications of the candidates, as we are electing a judge, not a commissioner or a supervisor with the support of a board of peers — a single individual who will make rulings and sentences that impact people’s lives or the safety of the community.

When I met Michael Girardi, he really impressed me, and I am confident that you will be impressed, too. Following my many years as a court employee, I recognized that he has the knowledge, qualifications and qualities to be an excellent judge.

Please vote for Michael Girardi . Experience and qualifications absolutely matter!
