Letter to the editor: Free speech and misinformation
For roughly 230 years, our country has relished free speech. Then the Democratic leadership started with their lies. The liberal press and media have chimed in with them. In my lifetime, I never expected the major news channels to go along with the concept of disinformation instead of providing the best news story.
Freedom of speech is the most critical component in a democracy. Two recent things brought this to my attention: Elon Musk buying Twitter so freedom of speech would be maintained in the media world, and the Biden administration’s announcement that it is coming out with a Disinformation Governance Board. Is the board aimed at guaranteeing free speech? How can free speech be guaranteed by the Biden administration when it is one of the possible proponents of misinformation?
John D. Barron, author of several books dealing with the Soviet Union and the KGB, is quoted in the book “Fatal Hour” by G. Robert Blakey and Richard Billings: “The contemporary Soviet concept of dezinformatsiya (disinformation) is designed as the disinformation of false or provocative information … used variously to influence policies of foreign governments … and at times simply to obstruct depredations and blunders of the KGB itself.”
When you consider all the blunders and lies that have been put out by the Democratic leadership to misdirect their blunders or attempt to influence people’s thoughts in an opposite direction, common sense tells you that they have been following the same strategy of disinformation that the KGB uses. With that said, how can we believe anything they say? American people, beware.
