Letter to the editor: Fetterman's 'work' record

It was good to see that John Fetterman’s physician cleared him with “no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.”

Unfortunately, prior to his stroke, he didn’t “work full duty” while either as mayor or lieutenant governor — missing many city meetings (but still claiming this was his full-time job) or not presiding over his responsible state proceedings as recorded by government attendance records.

What we do know is that he went to all 67 Pennsylvania counties (at taxpayer expense) to lobby for the legalization of marijuana. So there is where he spent a lot of his time in the last four years. While in the last 50 years our federal government has spent millions on convincing Americans to stop smoking cigarettes, Fetterman has spent thousands of state dollars to lobby/change laws and support Pennsylvanians’ right to smoke marijuana. ’Splain it to me, Lucy!

His contention that he “saved Braddock” is in sharp contrast to the published 10-year crime data on burglary, assaults and auto thefts. The highly publicized upscale restaurant and cooking school (in a building he owned) failed and is long gone. Stores continue to close and population declines. Yet Braddock, unlike Homestead, Munhall, McKeesport and Duquesne, actually still has a functioning steel mill paying property taxes.

Pennsylvanians should think long and hard in November about what policies we want to go forward with.
