Letter to the editor: Feeling like we live in a war zone

Tribune-Review

The United States is at this time a very dangerous country to live in. Murderers are everywhere. The crime rate is high. Some blame guns. Some blame drugs. I blame our politicians and justice system. There seems to be no penalty for committing crimes. In the old days, it was an eye for an eye. You kill, you shall be killed. If there’s no death penalty, there’s no deterrent to killing.

Some want to release as many criminals from prison as they legally can. Gov. Tom Wolf pardoned more criminals than the last two governors combined.

Some want to defund the police, who already have their hands tied. Ankle monitors are the biggest joke of all. Criminals commit crimes while wearing them. One young criminal was laughing while showing how to remove it in a video.

Pittsburgh City Council last year approved legislation that bans minor traffic stops. How many criminals are caught this way?

How safe do you feel after reading this? My advice is to buy a gun, get a permit and learn the safe way to shoot. It looks like we must protect our loved ones and each other because they don’t seem to care. I feel like we live in a war zone.
