Opinions are like faces: Everyone has one. And while each person’s opinion should be respected, there are those expressed that often are inane, ignorant and uninformed — opinions that should never be publicly expressed.
To me, Jay Londino’s letter “Shutting down not way to deal with virus” (April 23, TribLIVE) is one such example. What don’t you understand about nonessential businesses?
No one has purported that the country is trying to “make sure no one gets the virus,” but only trying to keep it at a minimum. Gas will not run out, because essential workers must still get to their jobs and truckers still must deliver to gas stations and grocery stores. As long as we need food to sustain our lives, food will never “disappear.” Heat, water and sanitation are still “essential” to life, so the contention that they will collapse is ignorant of facts.
The greatest gift mankind has been given is the ability to think and apply reason. With this letter, I believe you have failed miserably.
