Letter to the editor: Examining behavior of world leaders
Microbes have it rough. People kill them with disinfectants, remorselessly, as if their little lives were of no importance. Some of them are really warm, special, talented creatures. Open your heart. Using an electron microscope, I’ve been keeping company with some scintillating bacteria.
Who would have thought spirochetes and streptococci could read! They get all over the NYT, and their opinions can be astounding. They were reading the other day that most citizens in Ukraine are in favor of combat with Russia. They wonder how millions of innocent, endangered civilians were polled. Heck, the media has been known to fib.
Other news sources claim Vladimir Putin is considering a nuclear strike. My comrades on the glass slide are saying maybe Volodymyr Zelenskyy should have resigned and allowed a new government to form. My germs all say the planet is at risk.
Zelenskyy used to be a comedian and media personality. As was Donald Trump. True or false: Trump was said to be a dangerous narcissist who put ego gratification above the well-being of the people.
Mary Sue, a photogenic young amoeba, asked, “Could the same allegation be true of Zelenskyy? Is he putting his ego ahead of human life?”
Mary Sue is angry about the way world leaders are behaving, and hopes some day to give them a case of the trots. I don’t blame her one bit.
