Letter to the editor: 'Era of Lunacy' will end

I predict that someday, somehow, our nation will recover from its current state of social unrest, and future historians will look back at our current era and define it as “The Era of Lunacy.” They will wonder how a society that evolved over thousands of years could suddenly believe that (among other things):

• There is no difference between male and female.

• Climate change is caused by people, not nature.

• Inflation can be resolved by spending and printing more money.

• Crime can be fought by defunding police.

• A nation that voted twice for a Black president in inherently racist.

• Faith in government is more important than faith in God.

• People should be judged by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character.

• Government should mandate equity of outcome regardless of merit.

• Socialism (despite its proven failures) should replace capitalism (despite its proven successes).

• Any rational person attempting to challenge these crazy ideas should be automatically accused of spreading misinformation.

• We must do whatever it takes to defend a foreign nation’s border while neglecting our own.

Those future historians will wonder how people of this Era of Lunacy could have elected a Joe Biden to become the leader of the free world.
