Letter to the editor: Enough with property tax hikes

Tribune-Review

Enough is enough. When are citizens going to band together and say enough when these school boards decide to raise your property taxes 2 or 3 mills every year? Especially during this black period in our country. More than 40 million people in our country have filed for unemployment, and many school boards are increasing property taxes. Where do they expect people to come up with this money when they are lining up to get food to feed their families?

Please, will some of our elected officials step up and put a stop to the constant draining of money from residents because a school board needs more money? Example: The New Kensington-Arnold School Board approved a 3-mill hike in its proposed budget, after debating on 2 or 3 mills, so the district could have a financial cushion (“New Kensington-Arnold School Board proposes tax increase, warns of bleak financial future,” May 27, TribLIVE). How about the financial cushion for the taxpayers?

Elected officials, help us!
