When I learned that Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Bryan Cutler had accepted a call in which he was asked to overturn the 2020 Pennsylvania vote for President Biden, I assumed the worst about him. Upon the release of additional information pursuant to the Jan. 6 committee hearings, however, we now know that the speaker rebuffed such efforts, refused to accept subsequent pleas, and that he and his family suffered for it through having his personal information and cellphone number released and individuals protesting at his home, terrorizing his teenage son who was home alone.
I disagree with the speaker on many policies, but I shall always have respect and admiration for him for honoring his oath and the Constitution, refusing to bend to the will of a desperate, pathetic and delusional former president: the first leader in the history of the United States who refused to facilitate the peaceful transfer of power, placing his interest over that of the country.
Tossing out legitimate votes is what I believe we would see if state residents were foolish enough to elect election denier Doug Mastriano as governor. Surely we will have the wisdom to place an honorable individual in office instead. That person is state Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
