Letter to the editor: Doven for Allegheny County council
I would like to respond to the letter “Reelect Bethany Hallam” (April 17, TribLIVE): I will proudly be voting for Joanna Doven for Allegheny County Council. She stands strong as a single mother of three young children, a small-business owner and a voice of reason focused on delivering results that matter to my working-class family.
Gun violence has been increasing to a point where I fear sending my kids to school or attending public events. I want a county council representative who will call on the swift hiring of a police chief in the City of Pittsburgh and allow our law enforcement members to focus on doing their jobs.
My elderly family members are still overcoming the mental health challenges of covid-19 isolation. It’s taken a toll on me as a caretaker, mother and wife. I want a county council person who will advocate for increased investments in mental health and fiscal responsibility.
For me and my family, Joanna Doven is that empathetic person.
We need to elect people who care about working communities. We need less elected officials focused on serving themselves.
