Letter to the editor: Don't blame media for world views
Regarding Michael Bitterice’s letter “Media not fair and objective” (July 26, TribLIVE):I despise mainstream media. I prefer to gather my news from various sources, and even that can be a stretch. But at the end of the day, it’s up to you. It’s what dwells in your heart that shapes how you view the world, not MSM. Blaming MSM for not being fair and objective is a cop-out.
You seem to be a stout defender of freedom of the press, writing “the founders of our great nation gave the strongest constitutional protection to the press.” Do you remember when President Trump called the press “truly the enemy of the people” in 2019? Not MSM; the press. Huh.
I enjoy reading history, especially early 20th century Western Europe until the end of the Cold War, 1991. You know who used that term countless times during that era? Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Benito Mussolini and Pol Pot. And now Donald J. Trump.
We prevailed through the Civil War, built the transcontinental railroad, persevered through the Great Depression, defeated fascism in World War II, built the interstate highway system and put a man on the moon. Surely a nation that achieved those brilliant feats of engineering and displays absolute resolve can manage to gather the talent, funding and brainpower to develop green energy sources. “Pie in the sky dreams” that are “decades from being affordable and reliable” sounds defeatist to me.
Finally, Trump … well, Jan. 6 and above in the second paragraph says it all. He’s dangerous.
