Letter to the editor: Does Voice of Westmoreland really represent us all?

Tribune-Review

In response to Lee A. Johnson’s letter “Diversity in Westmoreland” (Sept. 19, TribLIVE): I believe if Voice of Westmoreland truly was transparent, as its members claim, they would change the group’s name to Progressive Voice of Westmoreland and stop their song and dance regarding representing all residents.

VOW is affiliated with Pennsylvania United, whose six local chapters support the most radical candidates like Summer Lee and John Fetterman. You can view this at paunited.org. I’d be willing to place a bet at our casino that Pennsylvania United and VOW are a branch of George Soros’ Open Societies.

Johnson writes that “We need to do better than to spend on bike trails, tourism and ‘pet projects’ for the select few” and that the Live! Casino Pittsburgh “only increased traffic and crime and is a venue for people to throw good money away.” Our casino, which is very safe, has done for Westmoreland what our Arnold Palmer Regional Airport has done: bring more visitors and tax revenue in and create an entertainment center for our county. I, like many of my friends, go there to enjoy the UFC fights.

Johnson’s comment regarding not wanting to see immigrants paid low wages and living in “deplorable housing conditions” makes me cringe regarding sanctuary cities and illegal immigration. In my opinion, illegal immigration increases crime, not our enjoyable casino entertainment venue.
