Letter to the editor: Do your homework and use your vote wisely

Tribune-Review

Every time I see someone write about term limits, I go crazy. We have term limits: It’s called “our vote.”

The problem is, we don’t do our homework — look up the candidate’s voting record since he or she got elected.

We Americans are getting so lazy it’s ridiculous. We listen to the news media, which I think half the time lies to us. Sometimes it’s candidates’ last name; because their father or grandfather was a politician, we vote for them. They all say what you want to hear when they want your vote, but we should go by how they voted and what we believe in.

Our grandfathers and fathers fought in the heat of jungles and in freezing temperatures in the Ardennes and Korea, and they were scared, but that didn’t stop them in the world wars in order for us to be free and vote.

My mom is 90 with health issues, but she said she is going to vote in person. She wants to make sure her vote counts. I’m proud of her. She’s no snowflake, just part of the greatest generation.
