Letter to the editor: Disgraceful actions in commissioners' race
What’s happening in the Westmoreland County commissioners race is absolutely a disgrace (“Appeals court rules Ventre, Kosko to remain on GOP ballot for Westmoreland commissioner,” April 7, TribLIVE).
For Bill Bretz, the Westmoreland County Republican Party chairman, and his attorney, Scott Avolio, who is also an assistant solicitor for the county and solicitor for the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, to try to keep Republican candidates Paul Kosko and John Ventre off the primary ballot, and also I believe question three different judicial branches, is a total lack of respect for our judges.
I am so happy that Kosko and Ventre will be on the May primary ballot.
Here are two quotes, the first from Avolio and the second from Bretz:
“It’s really immaterial about who these two candidates are. This is about understanding more clearly the election laws so we know the rules” (“Appeal seeks to remove Westmoreland GOP commissioner challengers from primary ballot” (March 27, TribLIVE).
“This is a loss for election integrity. That was one of the requirements, to file in two places” (“Republican commissioner candidates to remain on Westmoreland ballot,” April 25, TribLIVE).
What are Bretz and Avolio scared of? It didn’t matter?
Please, taxpayers, do some research on why they don’t want these two gentlemen in office.
I’m so thankful to God that I am a public servant, serving for the love of my community and my town.
