Letter to the editor: Destruction of the left
Columnist S.E. Cupp’s position on political accountability (“The new nihilism — actually, almost everything matters,” Feb. 21, TribLIVE) is truly a distorted account of current political reality. If you juxtapose the policies/actions of the divergent positions and actions of the sides, you simply cannot objectively make such a case.
Cupp essentially compares the policy positions and philosophy of the right to actual actions or lack of action of the left. Does she not understand the difference between the right’s beliefs and the following leftists’ actions — in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s covid management and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s city shutdowns; California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s covid and homeless management; unbridled riots in the Democratic cities of Portland, Seattle, New York and Washington; Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to protect the Capitol; Sen. Chuck Schumer’s threats to Supreme Court justices; President Joe Biden opening our southern border to immigrants during a pandemic; Biden shutting down the Keystone XL Pipeline/layoffs; the left’s perpetual talk of racism in lieu of the reality of white achievement?
The left seems to be winning the battles using Nazi Germany Minister Joseph Goebbels’ strategy and tactics. But in time, hopefully citizens will see the deficiencies and destruction that one-sided government will do.
This is a serious time in U.S. history. If we do not return to the checks and balances of two-party government, the open society allowing for the best chance of upward mobility and equality will be gone. Artificial political and governmental policy and social manipulation will lead to the country’s demise.
