Letter to the editor: Destroying Youngwood
Well, Youngwood, I thought the only geniuses were in the Biden administration, but after over a year of having almost every street in town torn up, I stand corrected.
If covid didn’t close our businesses, this mess is sure to do it. I find it hard to believe someone actually got paid to destroy this town. I’ve never seen highways with giant cement curbs jutting out from the sidewalks. There are even some on the side streets, making them more narrow than they already were. It’s an accident waiting to happen; I already see tire marks on the curbs where people ran into them. The other day, I had to go from one end of town to the other to even get to my house because these brains closed all the side streets at one time.
You can say this is all in the name of progress, but this should have been better planned out. For instance, do one highway at a time and make the other two-way, not closing all the side streets at once. This also hampers emergency vehicles. I can’t even get a little speed bump at the bottom of highway 6 now that they paved over the brick road and made it a race track. The reason? It might damage people’s cars. What about all the cars being damaged banging over these roads with curbs, drop-offs and holes?
If nobody else cares, so be it. But I can’t believe someone got paid for dreaming this up and those who agreed with it. Pure genius!
