Letter to the editor: Debate provided no answers

Tribune-Review

Once again a presidential debate became a stone-throwing, hair-pulling contest. Our candidates cannot stand alone on what their policies will be. It’s never how much better my ideas are, it’s always what a terrible mess you have made or will make.

The main issues fell short of being answered. Kamala Harris claims a woman’s health is at risk if she cannot have an abortion, and Donald Trump claims we are flooded with illegal aliens, all of whom are criminals, but he doesn’t have a plan for deportation.

These were the two “hot topics,” and neither candidate seemed prepared to address them responsibly. Harris claimed Trump failed in the pandemic crisis that the entire world was suffering and Trump will put women’s lives at risk by denying abortion on demand. Trump accused Harris of allowing illegal aliens to flood the country, thereby taking jobs and causing chaos at all levels. Which is a true statement?

These debates, in my opinion, should be a list of topics unknown to the candidates and introduced one at a time for the candidates to answer on the spot and no other remarks allowed. The moderators make no comments at all. Then we might get a true picture of who is best suited for the job.

And please do not vote by gender or race. Vote intelligently.

God bless America.
