Letter to the editor: Dealing with Jan. 6 traitors
In the unlikely event that Americans are naïve enough to reelect Donald Trump, he has made it clear that he may pardon the violent criminals and domestic terrorists who murdered law enforcement and attempted to undo a free and fair election.
This wouldn’t be the first time in America’s history that treason went unpunished. After the Civil War, Confederate leaders had statues erected in their honor rather than being sent to the gallows where they belonged.
The U.S. Justice Department has been warned, and they must act quickly to ensure the Jan. 6 traitors spend at least two to three years where they belong. I am in full support of keeping Gitmo open for the sole purpose of housing these traitors long after the cult leader Trump loses in 2024.
